Press release: MCR Print encourages green thinking in Brighton’s businesses

29th September 2011 American Express Community Stadium, Brighton

One of the UK’s leading environmentally friendly printers, led a sustainable business forum encouraging Brighton’s local businesses to improve their environmental credentials.
Held at the new American Express Community Stadium, MCR Print’s team demonstrated how developing a resilient sustainability policy, plan and practices will improve a company’s brand reputation and increase their tender opportunities.

Recycling, sustainable living and energy efficiency were all on the agenda. From architects, to lawyers, to manufacturers, businesses of all shapes and sizes attend. Brighton’s entrepreneurs recognised the need to ensure they operate in the most environmentally friendly and sustainable ways.

Max Robinson, Founder and Managing Director of MCR Print, commented: “Brighton is renowned for leading the way when it comes to green thinking, so it made perfect sense to bring together local business leaders to discuss how we can all continue to do better.”

Presentations were given by a panel of experts, including Jo Lacey, Commercial Manager, for Magpie Recycling Co-op in Brighton, Ayas Fallon-Kahn, Director of Bright Green Ecotech, Robin Humphrey, and Benjamin Disney and Liam Muckleston, co-founders of Caydoo.
A roundtable discussion followed, giving delegates the opportunity to share their own insights. One thing was agreed by all; if businesses are to engage customers with their environmental policies, then they need to communicate them.

MCR Print’s own business has impressive environmental credentials. Last year the Company achieved ISO 14001 certification, a demanding international standard. MCR Print also use vegetable and soya based inks, recycled papers, chemical-free materials and Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) stock as standard.

Max Robinson said: “Sustainability is key to how we operate; we’ve learnt a lot form achieving FSC accreditation and by undergoing a full carbon audit of our offices. We wanted to share what we’ve learnt and help inspire others.”.

Following the success of their carbon audit, MCR Print is now looking at extending their ‘green print’ offering, providing clients the opportunity to offset the emissions from their print work.
